Something To Think About

For those of you who care this is absolutely my way of getting out of writing a long blog. I know I am behind so I am going to leave you with something to think about while I work on a proper blog to post.

Is it wrong to lie when one is at war? To make things a little clearer I will rephrase. When you are fighting war or a battle against the enemy is it wrong to lie to gain the advantage?

Please leave your responses and I will explain why I am asking this question next time. Anyone can leave a response. There is no wrong answer. I am curious what people think about this.

  1. Think back to Nephi pretending to be Laban to gain the plates of brass. He was told to do so- pretend (or lie) to gain an advantage. For, as the scriptures put it, 1 Nephi 4:13. "13. Behold the Lord slayeth the wicked to bring forth his righteous purposes. It is better that one man should perish than that a nation should dwindle and perish in unbelief." Sometimes deceit- or lying- or pretending can be used to achieve a righteous purpose. The trick...being told to do so by a greater power. I think, us, on our own, without God's direction, would be lying under Satans guidance. Does any of this even make sense...good grief I am a dork! I guess what I am saying is this....sometimes- lying- to achieve a stand point or advantage over an enemy (especially a wicked enemy) is - to use a term- acceptable to God.
